How one drag queen became 31 J.K. Rowling characters

This drag queen, Jaremi Carey, could be recognized as Hermione Granger, Dobby, Sirius Black, Professor McGonagall, or Rubeus Hagrid from the Harry Potter cinema and film series of movies.

He spent all October sharing pictures on social media of his amazing transformations into some of the amazing and creative fantasy characters imagined by JK Rowling.

He says:

“I’m a Harry Potter fan first off, so it wasn’t a stretch for me to do”

As it happens he had already performed as Helena Bonham Carter’s character, Bellatrix Lestrange, in his live shows, so this clever idea for something a bot bolder and more infinitely more magical, on his trip to the UK, was genius!

He said:

“I loved it, but I hated the process”

“When I was in London, I did the Harry Potter tour and I was gifted all these wands and asked if I would do anything with them”

It all started when be began to work on his Harry Potter project in August, then two months’ work preparing the costumes, and finally kicking-off Halloween month with his Dolores Umbridge makeover, stunning!

He’s pulled off Moaning Myrtle, Draco Malfoy, Lord Voldemort, Luna Lovegood and of course, Harry Potter himself, how quirky!

He uses wigs, makeup, costumes, tons of makeup of course, sometimes prosthetics too, it’s a heck of a lot of work for sure.

He said:

“My personal favorite is probably Professor Sprout …I do have makeup on in the photo – but it’s just me making a silly face and it happens to look a lot like hers.”

Peter Pettigrew was one of the hardest to pull off…

He said:

“I hated Pettigrew. I love the outcome but during it I don’t think I’ve cussed so much in my entire life”

“I was gluing hair to my body and to my fingers – it was just disgusting. It was the only prosthetic that I couldn’t breathe out of through my nose.”

“It came out great. I loved it, but I hated the process.”

“I felt bad because my husband took every single one of the pictures and I was like: ‘Hurry up, take this, move that light, hurry up, do it’ – because I just couldn’t handle it.”

In October, Jaremi says he’s even met with approval from Dawn French (who played the second ‘Fat Lady’ in the Harry Potter movies) and Chris Rankin, the actor who played Percy Weasley.

Just to complete the series there is one last character, well who other than the creator, JK Rowling!
