1. San Francisco

  • Women’s median business income: $10,378
  • Women’s average business income: $31,880
  • Incorporated businesses owned by women: 32.1%
  • Percent of self-employed who are women: 41.7%

This is truly the No. 1 city for women entrepreneurs!


San Francisco has absolutely one of the higher percentiles, in total, of self-employed workers and incorporated business owners, who happen to be women.

Generally though, women entrepreneurs are more prepared for success on the West Coast, with five out of these top 10 metros in California.
